How to write a passage for job interview
A passage is actually a one-paragraph essay on the topic you choose. Your first sentence should be a topic sentence – the one introducing a topic and possibly your position on it. For example, “The job of a teacher is demanding, yet rewarding”. Therefore, you give details and examples, which support your point. You may begin by giving some general statements. To increase the word count and to make the job easier, you may start to describe a real-life example. For example, “My mother (aunt, friend) is a teacher. She spends much time … and usually feels frustrated to see… nervous about …. Nevertheless, I see how happy she is to tell about the achievements of her students” Finish with a concluding sentence, which restates and summarizes your argument.
To be able to write on any topic, you just need to practice writing. I am about to develop an online course for students where exiting readings will be combined with small writing tasks. You are welcome to subscribe to news not to miss the invitation to the course 😉
